But anyway, back to the trip.....
So Friday night, we arrived there after dark, so you can imagine how comfortable we all felt being out in the middle of the woods. Or maybe I am just projecting, you can imagine how comfortable I must've felt being out in the middle of the woods. I mean, the woman who we rented the house from lived in the house about 50 feet from us, but having never net her and having never been to this part of Virginia, and to have no idea how to get back to the main roads if necessary, it was a bit jarring.
However, since it was already dark and we knew that the later it got the less likely we were to want to go out into the unknown, we decided to drop off our things and immediately head out to the nearest grocery store, where we proceeded to spend probably about $200 on food, wine, etc, on top of what we already had purchased and brought with us. I'm talking everything from guacamole ingredients to fruit snacks, and a "breakfast pie" thrown in there for good measure. Now, I know that you are thinking, breakfast pie? But I tell you, a pie after breakfast is actually amazing. Try it some time. We chose the Hershey's chocolate mousse pie, and it was delicious.
Once we got back to the house, we decided to just play some music (the house came with CDs and a little cd boom box), and make some dinner and relax. My friend Sarah made some great grilled cheese sandwiches and we whipped up some tomato soup to go with them. Then we settled in to watch a movie, I believe that we went with Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (which if you have not seen is super adorable and you should definitely check out). As I was already pretty pooped before we even arrived, I dozed in and out of consciousness throughout the movie, but it was still the perfect way to wind down the evening. Oh, and it should go without saying, alcohol and wine were basically the 5th housemate of the weekend, and everything was better for it. Soon after the movie we all headed off to bed, and despite my lingering fears of what monsters and horrors the Virginia countryside had hidden around it, I was able to fall asleep, and end what was the first night of our great adventure,
Well, I think that that's it for now. I'll pick the story back up tomorrow. Night
