New Video: Alicia Keys - Teenage Love Affair and Flashback Film: Spike Lee's School Daze

Hey bloggeys!
I AM DONE!!!! I took my last exam yesterday morning, and went out for drinks that night :). It still hasn't kicked in that I am finished with my undergraduate degree. It is a strange feeling. It's like I am glad that I am done, but now I have to enter a new chapter in my life, and it's kind of scary. But I have faith in the universe that it will put me where I need to be. But, to celebrate looking back on the past, I wanted to post Alicia Keys new video that she just released this week called "Teenage Love Affair" off of her As I Am album. Enjoy!

I really like the song, and she chose a theme based on the Spike Lee film School Daze. I think that anyone that has gone to an HBCU (Historically Black College or University) can relate to that film, and it's one of my favorite films by Spike Lee. It's kind of a satirical view of college life at a HBCU in the 80's (it's soo 80's-tastic), talking about the prejudice between light skinned and dark skinned students, which actually has a very real history. It poses the students involved in greek life as snobbish blacks who wish that they were white, and the afrocentric students as their enemy who try to empower the black race. If you've gone to an HBCU, then you know that these themes do exist, but of course in good Spike Lee fashion they have been exaggerated for the film. Below is a clip from the film, it stars some of Hollywood's best black actors, some before they were big names at all. If you are looking for a film to watch to inspire some good discussion, watch School Daze with a group of friends. Enjoy!
